Just out of prison, Philippe crosses paths with Avdal, a Kurd who is on the trail of an Iraqi war criminal. Avdal wants to remain in France and eagerly awaits the arrival of his fiancée Siba. The two men end up becoming friends. When Avdal suddenly dies, Philippe finds himself organizing the funeral. When Siba finally arrives in Paris, she encounters Philippe who tells her of Avdal's death. Meanwhile, Avdal's father, a devout Muslim, arrives in Paris to grieve for his son. He wants Siba to return home but her recent taste of freedom gives her other ideas about her future.
